Trekking and Trail Riding Stonetrail offers unique trekking and trail riding in the quiet and largely undiscovered landscape of the Upper Eden Valley in Cumbria, close to the border with the Yorkshire Dales National Park.
To ensure a high quality riding experience we normally limit the number of riders on our rides to just 5 plus the ride leader. Complimentary tea and cakes is served in our riders lounge at the end of each ride. We also offer light lunches by arrangement which are a great way to end a special day with friends or to celebrate a special occasions. Personalised vouchers are available if you wish to arrange a ride as a gift.
Instructional Easy Treks - I hour / 90 Minutes
Whilst our easy treks are suitable for competent beginners they are also an excellent choice for the more experienced rider, particuarly if you just want to have a quiet hack with time to enjoy the views. Our easy treks include instruction throughout the ride.
Heading out from Street Farm we follow an ancient track through Stennerskeugh and over a beautiful packhorse bridge which leads us up onto the fellside below Wild Boar fell. Stopping to admire the views towards the Lake District, we complete a circle before heading back home. An alternative 90 minute route on a fair day will take us up the Pennine Bridleway and onto the limestone pavement known locally as "the clouds" which offers excellent views across the Howgills.

Trail Riding & Trail Riding Holidays
Our trail rides can last for 2 hours or several days ! For more details about our riding breaks please see our Riding Holidays page
Trail riding is for the more advanced rider who as a minimum standard is able to maintain a good position at sitting trot. Trail Riding is more challenging than trekking because we follow a variety of bridleways criss crossing varying terrains with quite steep ascents and descents. As we like to ride in an open and casual order as much as possible this requires the rider to be capeable of maintaining good control of their horse. We have a fabulous range of trail rides in a very unique landscape, most of which are virtually completely off road and because of this we are able to offer a high quality riding experience.
