Stonetrail offers bespoke riding holidays with friendly and qualified staff through inspiring scenery on beautiful horses. This is trail riding at its best.

Our riding holidays are all instructional and offer a very high standard of personal attention which means you can expect to further your riding skills during your stay. Whilst we offer great opportunities for challenging and faster rides for experienced riders we particuarly specialise in the more nervous and mature rider who is looking to take a more gentle pace in our stunning and quiet scenery. We can tailor the riding to suit your ability and either ride for a full day or two half day rides with lunch back at the farmhouse.

You can expect to become as involved with your horse as you like throughout your stay as we provide instruction in how to groom, tack up and care for your horse. This is a great way to learn more about stable management if you are thinking about owning your own horse.

When you arrive at Stonetrail we will spend a little time discussing your riding standard and in particular what you would like to achieve during your holiday with regard to your riding skills. We will talk to you about our horses and together we will plan our daily routes. We are fortunate that we are surrounded by bridleways and tracks which can take us off in any direction leading us through a spectacular and largely undiscovered landscape. We like to tell you about our area and its rich history and many fascinating legends that have been passed down through the generations. It is a very quiet part of Cumbria and you can expect to see some wonderful wildlife.

Our prices below are per person and include a continental breakfast which is provided in your apartment when you arrive allowing you to help yourself each morning. Lunch is either served in the farmhouse or as a packed lunch on route. At the end of each days riding we serve tea and cakes in a private riders lounge. As your apartment includes a fully fitted kitchen you can choose to either prepare your own evening meal or you can visit our local Inn ( within walking distance ) which serves excellent evening meals.

We also provide Mountain Bikes for hire and some of our guests like to include a day of biking or walking as part of their holiday to make it a multi-activity break. This is quite useful if you have other members of the family who would like to stay but take part in another activity than horse-riding. The riding holidays shown below are therefore just an example of what we can arrange. Please call us if you would prefer a different arrangement as we can organise everything to suit your wishes.

2 Days / 3 Nights Weekend Riding Break £260 per person. View our accommodation here

Arrive Friday and meet the horses ready for two full days of riding on Saturday and Sunday. Setting off early one of our experienced and qualified guides will lead you on some spectacular routes lasting around 6 hours with lunch on the way. Departing early Monday morning. Accommodation is provided in our luxury apartments converted from stonebarns and includes a continental breakfast which is provided in your accommodation and lunch on Saturday and Sunday. Evening meals are available at our local Inn which is within walking distance.

4 Nights / 3 Days Horse and Rider Experience £345 per person. View our accommodation here

Arrive on Monday afternoon and depart early Friday morning for 3 full days of riding on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. We encourage you to become as involved as you wish with the care and preparation of your horse during your stay and you can include private riding sessions with our BHS qualified instructor if you wish. The daily riding routes will be tailored to suit your riding ability. Accommodation is provided onsite in our luxury apartments converted from stonebarns which overlook the horse paddocks. Lunch is provided on your riding days and evening meals are available at our local Inn which is within walking distance.
