Latest News

Sidney

Sidney now has a new owner called Louise and he is being pampered in the Lune Valley. We wish them both lots of happy times together and hope to ride with them soon.

Indie

Indie has settled in really well, particuarly with the mares and is enjoying his riding.

New Barn & Livery Facilities

Our new barn is up and has a new concrete floor and we have installed land drains around the yard. The feild shelters have been installed into one of the paddocks.  We have already had several horses visting on holiday with their owners who had all been very pleased with the set up.

New Route in Smardale

Last weekend we took every opportunity of the weather and rode a new route through the Smardale valley which was excellent. Fantastic views and great canters. This is a full day ride with a picnic stop at Smardale bridge.

New Horses

We have two new horses, "Nora" a 12 year old 14h black dales pony and Molly, a 9 year old 15.3 Hunter cross. Nora was being used in a riding school and Molly was in private ownership and has  previous experience hunting in Ireland. Both are settling in very well and enjoying their rides over the fells. Finding new horses is not easy and we take a lot of care to find suitable types. We always bring the horses to Street Farm and test them on our more popular routes to make sure they are quiet, yet forward going and sure footed. Not every horse we try passes the test which often means long journeys taking them home again, but the effort is always worthwhile when we find the right ones.

New Yard & Facilities - March 2010

Its all quite exciting in the yard as we are in the process of building a new barn, yard surface & a menage so expect a few differences when you next visit. The weather has delayed us slighty but plans are back on track to have our new facilities in place by Spring.

New Horses - February 2010

We are currently testing new horses to add to the team for 2010. One of these will be a larger horse for our more confident riders ( another Conner ! ) Libby is also in the process of breaking Maisey ( one of our home bred Welsh Cobs ) and we expect her to gradually join in with the rides although she will be ridden by staff only in 2010.

New Routes for 2010 - Jan 2010

This summer we are offering a new 4 day trail ride called "Fell & Dales" as well as some new day routes through Smardale, which is a valley beyond Ravenstonedale offering some great scenery and great canters across open fell.

Summer Bar-b-que

We will be organising a get together this summer with an option to ride and will email details shortly.

Sad News - Dec 2010

For those if you who knew and rode Blacken you will remember what a lovely horse she was, very caring and gentle. Blacken was quite old and her health had deteriorated and in December we felt it was time  to say our goodbyes. This is always a terrible decision to make but one that all horse owners know is inevitable and necessary for the kindness of the horse. We miss you Blacken.

The Pennine Bridleway

Natural England are busy completing some important works to the bridleway in Garsdale and this will enable us to ride further along the this new route.

Regular Riders Prices 2010
